Susannah Wesley "The Mother of Methodism" (Side 2)

Susannah Wesley (1669‑1742), mother of John and Charles Wesley, is honored in Georgia with historical markers (for instance, on St. Simons Island at Epworth By The Sea) recognizing her influential role in raising children who founded Methodism. She lived in England and was married to the Reverend Samuel Wesley.

While she never traveled permanently to Georgia, her children did (John Wesley served in Savannah in the 1730s), linking her indirectly to Georgia’s colonial religious history.
