Upper Mill Cemetery

Cemetery managed by the city of Darien. It was used as a burial ground as early as 1803 and serves as the final resting place of several prominent figures in Darien's history. A recent survey revealed an additional six hundred unmarked graves hidden on the property, likely belonging to slaves from Butler Island. The cemetery's name refers to a lumber mill that once existed along the nearby Cathead Creek.
